UC Davis Stores, the Manetti Shrem Museum and the Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts are among a small number of campus units which have sub-brand status. Beyond well-defined exceptions, all other rules regarding uses of the UC Davis wordmark also apply to the sub-brands. Sub-brands may have their own unique designs for letterhead, business cards and envelopes.
This kind of exception is rare, and only granted in cases where marketing communications programs are either long-held and grandfathered in, where significant financial hardship would result from changing; or, where a need to appeal to a specific audience is clearly demostrated and cannot be met under the standard identity program.
